Review: Glitter and Ice Holiday Colour Collection

6 Snowglobe Eyeshadows/Warm

If you’re a new makeup geek and want a fairly neutral palette to start your collection, this one is good.  I love the gold color in this as it’s a true gold (not overly yellow or too bronze).  This would make a gorgeous evening look using the shimmery silver color with a pop of dark brown.  But I’ll admit, I HATE the packaging on these- cool idea, but it looks so cheap!  I don’t understand why the snow globe on top is so big and has big cheap glitter in it….
Price:  $38

Crushed Metallic Pigment – Wintersky, Dark Moon, White as Snow, Silver Sleet

These metallic pigments are the one thing I would get from this collection- they’re similar to their regular pigments but a little more chunky and richer in color.  The Dark Moon color would make a gorgeous metallic dark eye look for a sexy date.  I’m not a huge fan of the packaging on these either- the stackable tubs are sort of a pain to get into if you want the bottom color.

Mineralize Eyeshadow – Snow Season, Hold That Pose, Shimmermint

One word:  bleh.  Too chunky, not much pigmentation, boring colors.

Paint Pot – Let’s Skate!, Morning Frost

These are ok- nothing to write home about.  I would use the color “Let’s Skate” for a cheek highlighter and the color “Morning Frost” for a quick daytime neutral eye, but these really aren’t that unique to me.  Not bad, but nothing special.

Technakohl Eyeliner – Practice Makes Perfect, Seasonally Spicy, Silver Skates

These eyeliners are great quality in that they’re pigmented, glide easily, and stay on fairly well.  The color “Practice Makes Perfect” is a beautiful teal color that would look great on everyone, and the “Seasonally Spicy” is a nice bronze-brown color for the day.  “Silver Skates” is just boring and doesn’t show up well at all.

Glaze Lipstick – Such Flare, Eloquent Air

WHY on earth would MAC think a glittery silver lipstick would be pretty?  I put this on and looked like I had greasy food left over on my lips- not a pretty look :(    The color “Such Flare” is a nice red color that would be great for the holidays if you don’t already have a good red lipstick.  It’s pretty much identical to “Ruby Woo” but not as matte looking.

Dazzleglass Lip Gloss – She-zam, Love Alert

Again, silver lipgloss?  Looks great in the package; not so much on the lips.  The color “Love Alert” is a nice pink tinted red lipgloss with a bit of sparkle for a pop.  I’m not a huge fan of glossy red lips, so I’m passing on this one also…

Where to Buy

I’m sorry to be so negative on this review as I love MAC products, but this Glitter and Ice collection is a big fail.  Sorry MAC!  (I still love your other products though :) )
