L’Oreal describes this range of  lipsticks as a “revolutionary and innovative formula [that] delivers bold, luscious colour that lasts all day long, making it the ultimate beauty indulgence. Infallible Le Rouge Lipcolour offers up to 10 hours of vivid, hi-definition colour and shine, while hydrating Vitamin E keeps your lips moist and comfortable. Discover the truest colour payoff in a creamy conditioning base.”
The packaging of this product is modern and sleek, and well designed – the lid snaps tightly shut which keeps the product secure. Each lipstick comes with a shade number a matching colour sticker of the front. The top of every lipstick is a shiny red colour, but this is NOT the shade of lipstick inside. Each lipstick contains 0.09 oz or 2.5g of product, with a L’Oreal Paris engraved into the side of the lipstick product. This range has 30 different colours with varying finishes; all 4 I tried had a semi gloss finish (sheen) to them.
I had 4 shades from this line to test and try, these were:
  • Forever Fuchsia (deep fuchsia pink)
  • Perennial Pink (blue toned baby pink)
  • Infinite Spice (warm neutral brown)
  • Blazing Sangria (yellow toned red)
These lipsticks, I felt, went through different stages during its wear. Upon first application, all four shades had a similar texture in their application – smooth and creamy, with no dragging of the lips and a nice moisturising feeling. L’Oreal’s other infallible line of lipsticks were really dry, so this formula is a welcomed change –  there is no dry feeling here, and it does not settle into/accentuate dryness, cracking, or flaking of the lips.
After a period of time (for me this was about 20 -30 mins), it starts to dry down a bit and the texture becomes a little bit more tacky. Before this stage, the lipstick will transfer, but at this stage you will experience little to no transferring of the lipstick (*Tip: to eliminate the first stage, you can blot your lips on a tissue until you remove the excess). When eating, there was some transfer onto the food, but there was no noticeable change to the appearance of the lipstick after the meal as compared to before.
Towards the end of the day, this lipstick does start to go through a drying stage, in which time you may want to add a lip balm to it. After testing the 10-hour wearing claim, I did find that the lipsticks lasted the 10 hours, but 2 colours (red and fuchsia) looked better than the other 2 at the end of that time.
Some of the con’s to these lipsticks are the longevity is not consistent across the range of colours; the red and fuchsia stay longer than the baby pink and brown, because they are more vibrant pigments which leave behind a stain.  In addition, this lipstick claims to keep your lips “hydrated.. moist and comfortable”, however, I only found this to be the case in the initial stage. Although these are a bit drying, they are no where near as drying as any of the other long-wear lipsticks I have tried.
Overall, these lipsticks are a one to try if you are looking for a good long-wearing lipstick. I was genuinely impressed with the formulation, and would repurchase these again.  They aren’t overly expensive, are readily available, and have a good range of colours to try, but be aware of the finish (ones with glitter are not too flattering).

Your lips are the most sensitive part of your body and you need to keep them moisturized. The lips do not have any oil glands like the rest of the skin, so they are more prone to drying and cracking. Many women love to apply lipstick , and some even consider their beauty regimen incomplete if they do not apply their
favorite lip color. Lipsticks are available in a variety of textures and forms. There are long-wearing types available in the market that stay on for up to 8 hours without smudging. Unfortunately these are more difficult to take off than the conventional variety, and many women do not bother to take them off before going to sleep. This is where a makeup remover for your lips comes to the rescue and helps to effectively get rid of all traces of lip color.

Tips for Choosing the Right Remover

There are many different types of makeup removers available in the market from all the leading brands. Considering that the lips are very sensitive, waterproof removers specifically for lips are also available.

  • Although you can purchase a good remover from a department store, there are products in your kitchen that work just as well. Natural rose water is very effective. Just dip a cotton ball in rose water and rub it on your lips in a back and forth motion. Ensure that you rub gently. You will see that the lipstick has come off on the cotton ball. You can keep the rose water in the refrigerator for a refreshing effect.
  • The best natural remover is pure coconut oil or olive oil. Soak a cotton ball in coconut or olive oil and rub it on your lips until all the makeup has come off. Using oil is a good option for people who are allergic to certain ingredients in conventional removers. Moreover, coconut oil as well as olive oil will keep your lips moisturized and will help soften them.
  • You can also apply a small amount of petroleum jelly on your lips and leave it on for a few minutes. Take a soft tissue and wipe it off. You will find that the lipstick comes off easily.
  • In winter, when your lips are chapped and the lipstick has bled into fine lines, it is very difficult and painful to take the lipstick off. Dab a little cold cream on your lips and wipe it off with a moistened cotton ball.
  • If you use waterproof lipstick or long-wearing lipstick, you might have a hard time taking it off at the end of the day. Do not try to rub it off, as this could be harmful. The best natural remover for this kind of lipstick is milk. Dip a cotton ball in cold milk and rub it on your lips in a circular motion. The milk will not only cleanse your lips but also keep them soft and conditioned.

Lipstick shades are so confusing to choose from when you don't know what you want. There are millions of color shades in reds, pinks, purples, browns and beige which could look good on you but you can't judge by just looking at them. The Chinese and Japanese women are very well-known for their beautiful hair and skin. Afro-Caribbean with all Hair Colors: For these women, since they have a slightly tanned skin tone with light or dark brown hair colors, also black at times, the lipstick color guide would suggest colors like; Pinks (rose, clover, ginger, berry), Peach, Brown sugar, Mocha, Gold (rough and damson) and Brown (dusty, plum, apricot, pastel, beige).

African-American with Medium to Dark Hair: These women have very dark skin and sometimes jet black hair. But their skin too is very beautiful and plain which can suit many colors on the make up palate. These colors are; Copper, Purples (light and dark), Red (cherry, scarlet, brilliant, garnet, soft), Beechnut, Bronze, Gold (rough and damson), Brown sugar.

African Skin with Black Hair: Since this type of skin tone is very dark and the hair color is jet black, women with this skin tone look very attractive with colors like; Pinks (rose, clover, ginger, berry), Wine, Brilliant Red, Garnet, Damson Brown, Bronze, Beechnut, Brown sugar.

A swipe of red lip color can make any woman look instantly glamorous and sexy. Red lip color has long been associated with confidence, boldness and glamor. Beautiful women of all generations from Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn to Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow, all have sported red lipstick. There is something about red lipstick that just screams sex appeal, glamor and power, all rolled into one. This
shade is not for the timid as this color suits a modern women who is chic, confident and not afraid of her own sexuality. Many women are under the wrong impression that red lipstick cannot be worn by them, because of their skin color or hair color. But that is so not true. The trick to rocking a red lipstick is to find a shade of red lipstick that flatters your skin tone.

Best Red Lipstick Shades for Fair Skin

The next step in choosing a red lipstick is to determine which shade category the red lipstick belongs to. Red lipsticks are divided into two basic categories. Blue based reds and orange based reds. Orange based reds looks stunning on women who have medium to dark complexion or those women who sport a gorgeous golden tan. Blue based reds on the other hand are just right for women with fair skin who have a rosy skin tone. The best red lipstick shades for women with fair skin and brown hair are those which veers toward pink. Avoid orangey-reds and terracotta reds as this will clash badly with your brown hair, making your lips appear thinner and your complexion more shallow. Some of the best red lipsticks for women with dark hair and fair skin are:

  • MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger
  • Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color in Cherry Lush
  • Chanel Rouge Hydrabase Creme in Fire
  • MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo
  • Chanel Rouge Allure in Audace

If you are fair-skinned and have blonde hair, then you should choose a blue based red lipstick. Dusty rose and lighter shades of red looks great on women who are fair-skinned and have blonde hair color. Some of the best shades of red lipsticks for women with fair skin and blonde hair are:

  • Lipstick Queen Sinner in Red
  • Make Up For Ever La Bohème Rouge Artist Natural in Folk
  • Clarins Lip Colour Tint in Watermelon
  • Estée Lauder Hydra Lustre Lipstick in Rich Red
  • Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Hot

Redheads usually avoid wearing red lipstick because they think that it will not look good with their red hair. But to create a dramatic effect, you need to apply red lipstick. The best shades of red lipstick for fair skinned women with red hair are shades that looks more like coral or orange. The perfect shade of red lipstick for fair skin and red hair is deep cherry red, wine red or shades that have a burgundy undertone. Some great red lipstick shades for women with fair skin and red hair are:

  • Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Day Lily
  • Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Sweet Nectar
  • Guerlain KissKiss Strass in Rouge Imperial
  • Laura Mercier Gel Lip Color in Clementine
  • Giorgio Armani Rouge d'Armani Lipstick in 40

Lipstick Shade and Skin Tone

To pick the right shade of red lip color, the first thing that you need to do is determine your skin tone. Carefully observe the skin on your face in the sunlight. If you have a pink undertone and your complexion turns ruddy in the sun, then you have a cool skin tone. On the other hand if you have a yellow undertone then you have a warm skin tone.

Women with a cool skin tone, generally have fair skin and they need to choose shades of red lipsticks that suits their skin tone. If you have a pink undertone you need to choose a red lipsticks shade that also has similar undertones. You need to choose a shade of red that has a pink or blue undertone. Women with olive skin can go for more intense and warmer shades of red.If you find red lipstick a little too overpowering, then start with lipstains. They have more color intensity than lip glosses and they give you a beautiful wash of color that stays on for a long time. Never make the mistake of matching red lipstick with red outfits. Wear red lipstick with your favorite little black dress and acessorize with patent red leather pumps and a skinny red belt. Wear red lipstick and get ready to shine!

There is hardly any woman, whether old or young who goes out without a swipe of lip color or lip gloss. A woman might skip applying a concealer or a foundation, but she hardly misses putting on her favorite lipstick. Although there are myriad of lipstick colors available in the market, most women would say that their favorite lipstick color is pink. And why not? A good pink lipstick can be used anywhere and everywhere, be it a
casual day event or a formal dinner party. One swipe of a beautiful pink lipstick and you feel instantly like a princess. All pink lipsticks are not suitable for everyone. Another important thing to remember is never to judge a lipstick color by its packaging. A tube that looks attractive might just not work for you. You need to choose a pink lipstick shade that flatters your skin tone and eye color.

Choosing Pink Lipstick for Olive Skin

If you have an olive complexion, then it's time to thank your lucky stars. Most olive-skinned women have a warm skin tone and can pull off almost all pink lipstick shades, except the very pale frosty ones. To make sure that you do not make the mistake of purchasing a lip color that will make you look unflattering, always try the shade on the skin before you purchase it.

Best Pink Lipstick Shades for Olive Skin

The basic thing to remember is that, darker your skin tone the more pigment you can wear. So you can go for some deep pink colors like fuchsia, berry, orangey pinks and intense pinks with a hint of purple. Some great shades of pink lipstick shades for olive skin are:

  • Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Colour in Insolente
  • Dior Addict Lipstick in Hollywood Rose
  • NYX Round Lipstick in Louisiana
  • Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in Voile de Rose
  • Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Madère
  • L'Oreal High Intensity Pigments in Black Cherry
  • Lancome Color Fever Lipstick in Pink in the Limo
  • Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart
  • Dolce & Gabbana The Lipstick Classic Cream Lipstick in Velvet
  • Elizabeth Arden Exceptional Lipstick in Hot Pink
  • MAC Lipstick in Skew
  • Urban Decay Iconic Lipstick in Hotpants
  • Laura Mercier Lip Colour in Camellia
  • Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Fuchsia
  • Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Pillow Talk
  • Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Colour in Confidentielle
  • Dolce & Gabbana The Lipstick Classic Cream Lipstick in Mandorla
  • Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Pink Wink
  • MAC Pink Nouveau

Skin Tone and Lipstick Shade

There are basically two types of skin tones - warm skin tone and cool skin tone. People who have a very fair complexion with rosy cheeks have cool skin tone and those who have tan or olive skin have a warm skin tone. If you are still not sure about your skin tone, look carefully in the mirror in sunlight. If you see any flecks of yellow or brown on your skin, then it means that you have a warm skin tone. Choose pink lipsticks that have an undertone of orange and green as they balance out the yellow pigment present in the skin. When choosing a pink lipstick shade for olive skin, steer clear of any frosted shades as this makes your complexion look tired and jaded. A pink-tinted natural lip gloss would also look great on olive skin.

There are also different formulations of pink lipstick available in the market that gives different finishes. You can choose from long-lasting matte lipsticks to creamy pearl finish ones. Those who are reluctant to wear lipsticks with an intense pigment can also experiment with different lip glosses and lip stains in shades of pinks like rich berries and dusky rose. When you wear such a muted color on your lips, you can go ahead and wear bold colors for your eyes. Opt for smoky smoldering eyes in gray or silver which complements the pink lipstick shade.
