Overall Opinion:
The box was the first thing to catch my eye. Girly, fabulous and just a hint of gaudy. What was inside the box definitely did not dissapoint! Each shadow color was just as fantastic as the next. The gloss and blushes are great and work well with all of the sahdows. The thing I love the most about these kits is that you can do so many different looks with it!

In an effort to help you with your Christmas shopping this year, I’ve tried several of the holiday products to pick my favorites for 2010!
Each of these products I show, I purchased with my own money and was not sponsored by any companies. My opinions are always my own :)
5. Urban Decay NYC Palette
Urban Decay never disappoints with their eyeshadow palettes- this newest one is no exception. The quality of the eyeshadows is amazing, the colors are super bright, and the price is great for what all is included. I especially love the packaging on this one as it lights up! My only complaint is there’s not enough new colors and not enough variety in matte and shimmer shadows, thus making this my #5 for this year…
It includes:
- 16 eyeshadows
- 2 eyeliners
- small eye primer
Price: $54
Where to Buy: Amazon
.
4. Smashbox Wish Palette 2010
I love this palette in that there’s a great mixture of matte and shimmery shadows, plus the quality of the shadows is amazing! The colors are so pretty, are pretty much full size, and there’s even a “Look Book” that includes makeup ideas using this palette.
Price: $45
.
3. Too Faced Glamour To Go – Fairy Edition
I always love when Too Faced comes out with these cute little palettes as they’re perfect for keeping in your purse on those crazy days! I carry one in my purse and grab a couple brushes and primer to do my makeup on the run :) This year’s palette is especially nice as the colors are gorgeous AND there’s a mixture of matte and shimmer shadows! These make amazing presents as they’re less than $20 and are oh so cute :)
It includes:
- 8 eyeshadows
- 1 blush
- 1 bronzer
- 1 lipgloss
Price: $19.50
Where to Buy: Amazon
.
2. LORAC Box Office Sensation
This palette is perfect for travel as it has almost everything you need in one sleek case! Honestly, I bought this palette mainly for packaging as it was so stylish and reminded me of a caboodle ;)
(For full review, go here: LORAC Palette Review)
It includes:
- 36 eyeshadows- mixture of shimmer and matte finishes
- 9 lipglosses
- 3 blushes
- 1 bronzer
Price: $56

.
1. Tarte Jewelry Box
This is my #1 palette for 2010 as it has full size eyeshadows- half of which are matte finish! The quality of these eyeshadows is fantastic, and the color choices are amazing (some colors are beyond what MAC has), and the packaging is very slick.
Best. Holiday. Palette. Evah.
It includes:
- 16 shimmery eyeshadows
- 16 matte eyeshadows
- 8 lipglosses
- 1 cheek highlighter
- 1 bronzer
- 5 eyeliners

What is it?
A set of four award-winning Stila eyeshadows plus one Convertible Color in a chic, mirrored palette
They Describe it as:
- Trendsetting in Tokyo-Whether you’re channeling a Harajuku girl or inspired by the elegance of a geisha, this collectible palette will help you add some pop to your everyday look. It has four trend-setting shades: Sake (beige with shimmer), Kawai (pink), Shibuya (blue), and Peace Sign (black). Also included are a Convertible Color in Sakura, a limited-edition shade, and a built-in mirror for touch-ups wherever you go.
- Pretty in Paris-Whether you’re strolling through the Louvre or enjoying a crepe near Notre Dame, be sure to freshen up your look with Stila Cosmetics Girl Travel Palette. This lovely mixture of colors contains award-wining shadows and one convertible color for various alluring looks. The Paris-themed case opens to a generous mirror for creating looks on-the-go.
Overall Opinion:
These little palettes are a dream for anyone that travels a lot, or is always on the go.
I really liked the colors in the Trendsetting in Tokyo palette! They were more fun to work with, where as the Pretty in Paris had a lot of similar colors so that made for less diverse looks. The eye shadows were fairly pigmented when applied with eye primer. The cheek/lip colors were both pretty, but I wouldn’t recommend the rosebud color for anyone with fair skin. I think for the price you pay, it’s a good investment.

What is it?
A four-piece collection of sultry, limited-edition shades inspired by the film Burlesque.
They Describe it as:
Designed to re-create theatrical looks featured in the film “Burlesque,” In Theaters November 24, about a small town girl trying to make it big in Hollywood, this provocative collection of sexy shades will bring out your inner starlet.
This set contains:
- 0.02 oz Limitless Liquid Liner Pen in Jet Black
- 0.14 oz Double-Ended Lip Gloss in Peep and Show
- 0.2 oz Shadow and Liner Quad in Risque (shimmering pink, deep eggplant, shimmering pink beige, and cool gray)
- 0.058 oz Loose Shimmer powder in Burlesque (golden pink)
Rating:
- Product: 5 out of 5
- Packaging: 5 out of 5
- Quality: 5 out of 5
- Overall: 5 out of 5
- Would I buy again? Yes!
- Price: $ 35
- Where to buy: Amazon
Overall Opinion:
I liked using these products because it forced me to be creative with the look I put together for it. I was semi disappointed with the shadow colors, I guess expected the burlesque palette to have bolder tones. The lip gloss was great and the loose shimmer powder worked as a great highlighter. The liquid pen liner was fun and is perfect for those of you just starting to use liquid liner. The cream liner in the palette says gray but it comes off slightly teal when I applied it softer.
*I’m wearing the other side of the lipgloss in this photo.

Tarte Jewelry Box Palette
What is it?
An exclusive, limited-edition palette packed with 32 new eyeshadows, eight lip glosses, a mineral bronzer, a new shimmering powder, five deluxe long-wearing eyeliners, and a detachable necklace.
My Opinion:
This palette is truly my favorite of all time. Yes, I said it- of all time! I love that it has so many matte eyeshadows, as most brands carry nothing but glitter up the ying yang. This one has 16 matte ones that are full sized! It also has another 16 shimmer shadows for you glitter lovers too ;)
The quality of this is absolutely amazing- great color choices, nice pigmentation, and smooth texture. The lipglosses are also fairly pigmented and aren’t sticky at all. I love the bronzer and highlighter as it’s not too orange or too glittery. The eyeliners I find are a tad dry, but not bad at all either. I cannot say enough about this palette! Good job Tarte- you nailed it!
