Makeup Techniques for Brown Eyes

Using makeup doesn't only mean that one wants to conceal certain skin imperfections; it is also about amplifying certain features of one's face, by drawing special attention to them. Nowadays, makeup is believed to be an enhancement tool that helps accentuate one's facial features. However, when a woman applies makeup, she must know how to put it on in the first place. A lot of people tend to
mimic the colors of their outfit through their makeup, especially in garish tones like blue, green, and pink. Things like skin tone and eye color come into consideration, and not the colors of what you're wearing unless they're complementary.

Prepping Your Face Prior to Applying Makeup

Before applying makeup, don't forget to clean your face thoroughly with an exfoliating cleanser, followed immediately by applying moisturizer. Next, use a makeup brush to apply foundation, as a base for your makeup; find out if whether a cream-based or compact foundation is best suited for your face.

See to it that the foundation you select is a shade lighter than your actual skin tone; take a test sample of the foundation by applying a little of it on your neck, allowing it to blend completely―you shouldn't be able to see it in natural or soft light. For those of you who have skin imperfections like blemishes or scarring, dab a little concealer on these areas after applying a layer of foundation.

According to makeup experts, brown eyes go well with practically any eye-makeup colors. If you have brown eyes, you can actually experiment with all sorts of colors to find one that's right for you. However, if you're still confused about how to do this, the following tips should help.

Eye Shadow

 Because brown eyes come in different shades like light, medium, and dark, it is important to choose an eye shadow depending on the color intensity of your eyes. Nevertheless, there are certain colors that look good when coupled with the color brown. A unanimous opinion by makeup experts suggest that the color brown itself is the safest color to opt for; beige and tan are great too. Pink eye shadow (a soft, light shade) looks good against brown eyes, but your skin tone should ideally be either 'fair', 'pink-tinged', or 'pale'. Warm complexions don't work well with pink, but other colors that blend well with brown eyes include shades of green, blue, and purple, including bold colors like gold, green, and copper.











Eyeliner

 Brown eyes look fabulous when a contrasting color highlights them. One can look good by using a light-colored eye shadow with a dark eyeliner. The eyeliner colors that work for brown eyes are chocolate brown (for a soft look) and black (for a dramatic look). You can also try navy blue, copper, violet, or forest-green eyeliner colors. After you apply eyeliner, coat your lashes with mascara (again, find out which kind your lashes need before buying one; volumizing, lengthening, or defining).











Final Touches

 Heavy eye makeup is usually for sundown before heading out for drinks or a party; the day is for lighter makeup that doesn't weigh you down all morning. Depending on your skin tone, choose a lipstick color that complements your eye makeup too. Neutral colors like nude or barely-there pink, work great for warm complexions, where you can sport a bold lip color post sundown. Coral, chirpy red, or bright pink, work well for women who can carry these colors off with confidence.

Review: Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners- 15 Year Anniversary Collection

A special collection set of 15 amazing eyeliners put out by Urban Decay in celebration of their 15 year anniversary

They Describe It As:

The range of shades includes lush tropical hues, deep metallics, and unusually vibrant neutrals. Favorites like Zero, Bourbon and Electric sit side-by-side with SIX brand-new shades like Asphyxia, Stray Dog and the pièce de résistance: Perversion – a blacker-than-Zero black. Each pencil is stamped with “UD15”. The whole collection (and a sharpener!) comes packaged in a silver foil box printed with our UD15 ticking pattern. Purchased separately, this set is worth $264! What a value!

Overall Opinion:

I always have and probably always will love Urban Decay’s eyeliners.  They’re creamy, pigmented, easy to apply, and come in an array of colors!  My newest favorite is their Perversion color- a super intense black color that I use almost every day now for my waterline.
I realize this set is pretty dang pricey, but for what all you get, it’s actually not a bad price.  This would make an amazing gift (Valentine’s Day is coming up- *hint hint*)   My only complaint is that there are several colors in it that I already own, but if you don’t have any of these colors yet, I would run out and get this set!

Review & swatches: Urban Decay Book of Shadows vol. III

What is it?

Newest member of the famous Book of Shadows. Eyeshadow palette with 16 eyeshadows, two pencils and mini primer potion from Urban Decay.

They Describe it as:

Overall Opinion:

So, I have to say that I wasn’t that impressed with this.
I also have the BoS. II, and to be honest I had the same feelings of that one too.
It’s not the quality of the shadows, they all are pigmented, almost creamy. But have to admit that I’m not a big fan of all the chunky glitter (like in Uzi, Maui Wowie, Snatch…).
Also, even though the palette looks awesome with all the lights and details and stuff, it’s hard to take with you anywhere. It’s big, and personally I don’t want to risk a chance to brake it.
It also lacks a desent highlighter (I don’t count Uzi as one, mainly because of the glitter) , so you would need to take something else with you too, BoS III just isn’t enough.
Overall, I think this is more of a collector’s item than usable makeup palette. It looks great in your makeup stash, but that’s it.

Stila Kajal Eye Pencil

What it is:
These richly hued pencils are formulated to mimic the ultra-soft texture of the Indian eye darkener of the same name.
Why I Like It:
My favorite color is the topaz one- I haven’t found a nude colored eyeliner (most are white).  I use this in the waterline to brighten my eyes and make them look bigger.

Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eye Liner

What it is:Extremely smooth eye pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner.
Why I Like It:
These eyeliners are not only very inexpensive, but work really well! They are super pigmented and glide easily- they compare to the UD 24/7 eyeliners.  The only downside is there’s just a few colors…

Loreal Hip Color Chrome Eyeliner

What is it:L’Oreal’s first chrome eyeliner for bold definition, with a striking metallic effect.
Why I Like It:
These are another creamy yet inexpensive eyeliners that compare to the UD 24/7 ones.  The colors are gorgeous and are very pigmented.  Downside: just 5 colors…

Bobbi Brown  Long Wear Gel Eyeliner

What it is:
A best-selling, award-winning formula that makes lining your eyes like a pro easy.
Why I Like It:
These gel liners do not dry out like most other gel liners, and there’s tons of colors to choose from! Very pigmented and glide easily.  I use “Black Ink” almost every day now.

MAC Fluidline

What it is:
An ultra smooth gel liner that can be applied to the waterline or along the lashline for a beautiful pop of color.
Why I Like It:
Although I like the Bobbi Brown ones better, these gel liners aren’t bad. They apply easily and are very creamy.  My only complaint is that they dry out more quickly than the Bobbi Brown ones…

Palladio Eye Ink

What it is:
A portable, fine tipped liquid liner that comes in 6 different colors.
Why I Like It:
Unlike most liquid liners, the brush isn’t very pointed to get that precise line.  Also, these you don’t have to dip the brush in the liquid, making it much easier to handle. You just shake, then apply.

MAC Superslick Liquid

What it is:
A pigmented, shimmery liquid liner that comes in 9 amazing shades.
Why I Like It:
These liquid liners are shimmery and very pigmented!  I love the felt tip as you get a much finer line, and the colors are truly gorgeous.

Too Faced Metal Eyed Liquid Shimmer Eyeliner
What it is:
