Not all of us are lucky enough to have long, lush, and thick eyelashes like magazine models. Adding volume is a relatively easy makeup trick; you apply several coats of a good quality mascara and your eyelashes will appear thicker. But, correct application, timely changing, and proper hygiene are required to avoid eye
discomfort, allergies and other side effects.

With so many advances in the cosmetic industry and innovative eye makeup tricks, there are safer solutions to make eyelashes appear fuller and longer at the same time. One such product that gets this done is a lengthening mascara. This is the ultimate solution to naturally sparse and short lashes. It is specifically formulated to enhance volume, length, and the color of eyelashes. It is also available in different shades, which you can select according to your skin tone and personality.

The Working Mechanism

This mascara is similar to regular mascara. The only difference lies in the formula, in terms of curl-holding power, lengthening, and volume-adding properties. Purchasing the best mascara depends on your requirements. For example, waterproof mascara is best for stepping out on a rainy day, while a water-soluble product will do for a bright sunny day.

Water-soluble mascara is a better alternative for lengthening lashes. With a waterproof product, you need to use a cleanser for removing it effectively. So, frequent use is not recommended. Given below are useful guidelines for the proper application of the same.

  • Take an eyelash curler and curl your lashes. Holding the device close to the base of the lashes, clamp down gently. If required, repeat clamping and do the same on the other side.
  • Apply the mascara, starting from the base of the upper lashes and moving your way towards the tips. Do not forget to coat the corner lashes. Separate the lashes with a lash comb. Repeat on the other eye.
  • To create a glamorous and feminine look, you can apply several layers of mascara to the upper lashes. Be patient and wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying the second. You can dab some face powder with a cotton ball in between the two coats.
  • Special care has to be taken while applying mascara on the lower lashes. Otherwise, it will smudge and you'll end up with raccoon eyes. You can place a moist tissue paper underneath the lashes and gently apply mascara on the edges. A single coat is sufficient for lower lashes.
  • Make sure that your mascara is completely dry, then apply some eyeliner near the lash line.

While opting for the best product, make sure you check the label and look out for those products that do not cause clumping. In case you ever accidentally get mascara in your eyes, immediately wash and rinse your eyes thoroughly to avoid irritation.
