Be it of any type, the basic requirement from an eyeliner is that it should last long. Constant touch-ups and smudging is the last thing every woman wants. Hence, while choosing one for yourself, you need to start with the basics - whether you want the liquid variety or you prefer the pencil form. Let's get to know the pros and
cons of both types.
Liquid Eyeliner
Liquid eyeliner is always the best for the ones who know it's application technique. Once you have your hand at it, you can easily get a smooth line over your eyelid. To apply, you need to close one of your eyes, place your point finger on your forehead and pull your eyelid slightly downward. After this, apply by sweeping the liner from the inner to the outer end in a single fluid motion. You need to keep your eyes closed for a few seconds so that the liner dries. Repeat this process for the other eye. For the lower eyelid, open your eyes and pull the lower eyelid slightly downwards. Apply the liner as you did for the upper eyelid and look in the upward direction to let it dry.
Pencil Eyeliner
This is type often are preferred by most women as it is easy to apply and dries quickly. Also, there is no specific method for its application. You need to pull your upper eyelid slightly downwards, as in the case of liquid eyeliners. After this, move the pencil from the inner to the outer end. It does not matter if you cannot make the line with a single strike. Also, there is no need to start the application from the inner end. You can move the pencil from the middle portion and go towards the outer end. After this, again start from the middle area and go towards the inner end. You need to open your eye and pull the lower eyelid slightly downwards for easy application.
Difference Between Liquid Eyeliner and Pencil Eyeliner
Accentuates the lash line Gives a fine line
Fills the sparse lashes, if any Does not fill the sparse lashes, if any
Have to buy a new one if it dries Can be sharpened
Good for the ones with big eyes Good for those with small eyes
A Small Tip
Do not apply any eye makeup before you sweep your liner. After you finish applying, all you need to do is to smoothen the line. For this, dab the line slightly with a cotton swab. This will make your eye makeup look natural. Also, make sure that your liner is lighter than your mascara. This adds volume to your eyelashes.
