Getting your nails done at the salon can be expensive; not to mention time-consuming. Of course, doing them at home does take a considerable amount of time, but it does give you the opportunity to work on the nails whenever you want. And with tribal nail art, you don't necessarily have to visit a salon every time. Within the comforts of your home, it is quite easy, although slightly laborious to get the nails ready.

So, to help you get started and provide some inspiration, we have compiled a collection of 12 different tribal nail art designs for short and long nails. Also, as you go through the article, you will also find a step-by-step tutorial. Pick one design or go for them all, but start painting your nails now.

The best thing about doing these designs is their flexibility, and the ability to customize them the way you want. Depending on the colors and designs you like, you can try doodling the patterns on a piece of paper before you paint your nails.

How to Do Tribal Nail Art

Now that you have quite a few designs, you must be getting restless and would want to start asap. Well, we won't make you wait any longer. Here is a step-by-step explanation on how you can put the design yourself.

Step 1 - Apply a base coat before you paint your nails black. If you don't like black, paint your nails with any other color.

Step 2 - Dip a thin brush in your choice of nail polish color, and draw a small diagonal line in the middle of your nail.

Step 3 - Dip the brush once more, and draw another diagonal line going the other way; making a V-shape design.

Step 4 - Finish the zigzag line till either side of the nail. Also, paint a straight line across the top of your nail.

Step 5 - Now take a second nail polish color and dip a clean, thin brush in it. Draw a straight line as shown in image 5.

Step 6 - If you don't have another thin brush, clean the one you just used, and dip it in the third nail polish color. Draw a straight line closer to the cuticle, and add a few dots.

Step 7 - Add a few more dots around the zigzag lines. Dip a cleaning brush in nail polish remover and clean the area around your nail.

Step 8 - Follow the steps to paint and create the design on the rest of the fingers and thumbs. And once the nails are completely dry, apply a top coat to seal the design in.

* If you like to experiment with your nails, you should invest in a good nail art tools kit. Search for deals either over the Internet, at art or hobby stores, or in nail supply stores.

Weren't these designs just gorgeous? While creating the designs, your patience will be tested, but know this―in the end, it'll be all worth it. Give your nails a makeover with any of these designs, and wait for the compliments to flow.
