They say, the eyes are one of the foremost features that are noticed when it comes to creating a good first impression. People with hooded eyes, for instance, come across as a little secretive, a little
sensual, and a little sultry. This happens solely because the natural crease on the eyelid is covered by an extra layer of skin that droops over the lid.

While it is true that the extra layer of skin conceals most of the eyelid, making it tough for you to highlight your eyes, there is nothing that cannot be corrected using makeup. You can make your eyes more alluring, mysterious, and beautiful by employing the right makeup techniques. With these makeup tips, you will be able to draw attention away from your droopy eyelids.

Highlight your Lashes

Use your eyelashes to cover your droopy eyelids. Enhance your eyelashes by curling them before applying a good dose of mascara. You can even use false lashes to draw attention. Do not forget to use mascara on your lower lashes as well.

Define your Eyebrows

Queer as this may seem, a well-defined brow can definitely draw attention away from the sagging eyelid. To do this, you need to shape your eyebrows to a soft arch directly above the outer iris of the eye. Use a highlighter to define the arch as well as to seemingly raise the arch.

Create a Dimension

Highlight the lower side of the inner corner of your eyes to make them look brighter. You can also line your lower lids to make your eyes stand out. Make sure you use a light shimmery eyeshadow or white liner on the inner and outer corners of the eye to make them seem larger.

Contour with Darker Shades

Let the light get your eyes. Not literally, but visually. Take the tired and droopy eyes away by using lighter shades on the upper lid, while using darker shades to contour the outer corners of your eyes. Darker shades used on the outer edges will eventually draw attention to the eyes, and make them seem larger than they actually are. Besides, it will give you more space to work on your eyelids.

Use Upward Strokes to Blend

Blending your makeup well is the key to getting seemingly brighter eyes. At the end of the makeup session, you do not want your eyes to look like those on a patchwork doll. Use upward strokes to blend your eyeshadow as well as give a virtual lift to your eyes.

Go Easy on the Eyeliner

Your main motto while applying eye makeup is to take the heaviness away from your eyes, and not add to the droopiness. While lining your upper lids with liner, ensure that you begin from the center of your eyelid. To be safe, you can make the outer corners thicker to make them seem more open. Go easy on the inner corners, and use a thin line to define them if you need to.

How to:
»Apply light shadow over the eyelid.
»Use a piece of paper to trace a line on the outer edges.
»Using a fine, angled brush, smear gel eyeliner along the lid line.
»Make the line thicker towards the center, and taper it on the edges.
»Apply mascara to further open your eyes.
